II <br />March 9, 1994 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met a week ahead of the regular meeting <br />time, March 9, 1994, with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members <br />present: Jackie Alsobrook, Jean Gibson, Bill Hagood, Bill Neely, Rogene <br />Patterson, Joe Rex, and Frances A. Ellis, Secretary. Absent was Virginia Gibbs. <br />Also present were Beverly Lewis, Library Director, Tom Seay, NETLS Lay <br />Representative, and Keitt Wood, President of the Friends of the Library. <br />The Minutes of the February 16, 1994, meeting were approved as circulated. <br />The Budget Report indicated expenditures were 37.4 %, being in the fifth month of <br />the budget year, and so are in line. <br />The Statistical Report indicated a total of 79,950 items circulated for the year, an <br />increase of 5.6 %, due partly to the fact the Library has more new materials this year. <br />Ms. Lewis said she has kept records of the evening circulation with Tuesdays <br />greater than Thursdays, with 802 items for Tuesdays in February, with 602 for <br />Thursday evenings. <br />She said 3,600 reference questions had been handled; more than 2,400 Dial -A -Story <br />calls; nearly 10,000 library visits during February; and 191 new card holders <br />enrolled. <br />There were 322 non - fiction adult books accessioned; 146 fiction; 355 fiction for <br />juveniles and 222 non - fiction juvenhe titles. <br />Bill Hagood presented a quarterly report of the Library Advisory Board Funds, <br />saying there is $14,234 in the memorial fund; $58,504 in the Love Fund; $20,738 in <br />the Poteet Fund; and $44,639 in the Wilbor- DeShong Fund, totalling $123,881. He <br />will research the amounts originally given and when. <br />Mrs. Alsobrook and Ms. Lewis said there had been nothing new in the County <br />Funding project, but a March meeting is scheduled for the members from the <br />Commissioners Court, the City, and the Library Board. <br />
