II March 9, 1994 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met a week ahead of the regular meeting time, March 9, 1994, with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members present: Jackie Alsobrook, Jean Gibson, Bill Hagood, Bill Neely, Rogene Patterson, Joe Rex, and Frances A. Ellis, Secretary. Absent was Virginia Gibbs. Also present were Beverly Lewis, Library Director, Tom Seay, NETLS Lay Representative, and Keitt Wood, President of the Friends of the Library. The Minutes of the February 16, 1994, meeting were approved as circulated. The Budget Report indicated expenditures were 37.4 %, being in the fifth month of the budget year, and so are in line. The Statistical Report indicated a total of 79,950 items circulated for the year, an increase of 5.6 %, due partly to the fact the Library has more new materials this year. Ms. Lewis said she has kept records of the evening circulation with Tuesdays greater than Thursdays, with 802 items for Tuesdays in February, with 602 for Thursday evenings. She said 3,600 reference questions had been handled; more than 2,400 Dial -A -Story calls; nearly 10,000 library visits during February; and 191 new card holders enrolled. There were 322 non - fiction adult books accessioned; 146 fiction; 355 fiction for juveniles and 222 non - fiction juvenhe titles. Bill Hagood presented a quarterly report of the Library Advisory Board Funds, saying there is $14,234 in the memorial fund; $58,504 in the Love Fund; $20,738 in the Poteet Fund; and $44,639 in the Wilbor- DeShong Fund, totalling $123,881. He will research the amounts originally given and when. Mrs. Alsobrook and Ms. Lewis said there had been nothing new in the County Funding project, but a March meeting is scheduled for the members from the Commissioners Court, the City, and the Library Board.
