PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />JUNE 8, 1994 <br />MINUTES <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, June 8, <br />1994, at 4 PM in the Library Gallery with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and <br />these members present: Jackie Alsobrook, Jean Gibson, Bill Neely, Joe Rex. <br />Absent were Frances Ellis, Virginia Gibbs, Bill Hagood, and Rogene Patterson. <br />Keitt Wood, Friends of the Library outgoing president, and Thomas Seay, NETLS <br />Lay Representative attended; as did Library Director, Beverly Lewis. <br />The May 11, 1994, Minutes were approved as circulated. <br />Ms. Lewis reported that last month's expenditures were in line for this time of the <br />fiscal year and the department is on target overall. <br />She distributed the statistical report which indicated an overall increase of 3.7% in <br />circulation year to date. In May `94, 13,453 items were checked out, which was an <br />increase over the same month last year. The audio books and videos continue to <br />show a steady increase in circulation. <br />She reported 300 new books were added in May, approximately half of them <br />juvenile titles. 38 new videos were added. <br />Mrs. Alsobrook advised she had received favorable citizen comments about the <br />efforts to secure county funding. She said the issue has not been abandoned. <br />Ms. Lewis reported the automation project is still underway, with weeding and <br />barcoding taking place simultaneously. The Library is closed to the public until <br />noon each day in June and the staff is also working Mondays in order to facilitate <br />the work. She noted patrons have been very understanding about the matter. <br />
