Page 2 - Library Advisory Board 06/08/94 Minutes <br />Chairman Shelton noted three terms on the Board expire this month. Virginia Gibbs <br />and Joe Rex have indicated they wish to serve again. Mrs. Gibson moved, and after <br />discussion, the Board voted unanimously to recommend Keitt Wood to serve on the <br />Board. Mrs. Gibson moved, and the Board voted unanimously, to recommend Mrs. <br />Gibbs and Mr. Rex to serve on the Board. Ms. Lewis will write a memo to the City <br />Manager and City Council advising the Board's recommendations. <br />Ms. Lewis reported the Summer Reading Club programs are very popular with the <br />older kids who are enjoying the stories from Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House <br />books and the pioneer activities. The younger children are enjoying the storytime <br />programs and classic nursery rhyme movies, which also take place at 2 PM each <br />day. <br />The Board welcomed Kathie Gibbs, incoming president of the Friends of the <br />Library. She advised the new officers are Vice President, Carla Coleman; Secretary <br />Elizabeth Neuman; Treasurer, Lucy Fettner. She also said the Friends will continue <br />to sponsor the children's department, especially the Summer Reading Club. <br />Ms. Lewis noted the Library will participate in the "Celebrate America" parade and <br />festival Saturday, July 2. Kids from the Summer Reading Club will walk in the <br />parade and carry signs promoting reading and the Library. In the afternoon, she and <br />a junior volunteer will staff an information table in the Fairgrounds Exhibit Building <br />and will give "Kids Who Read Succeed" buttons and provide information about the <br />Summer Reading Club.
