The November Budget Report
indicated the Department has expended 11.89% which was also well within budget.
The Statistical Report for November, 1995, showed a 23% increase in circulation over the
same month last year and 19,604 items were checked out. Both reserve requests and
inter - library loan requests increased.
In November, 805 items were added to the collection.
Ms. Lewis advised that the Amnesty Holiday was popular and several long overdue items
had already been returned. The collection of canned goods for the needy was also
growing daily.
She said no new incidents of damaged books have been reported; however, the staff is still
concerned about the matter and stays observant.
The staff will conduct a physical inventory the week of January 8 - 12 and the Library will
be closed. January 13 the Library will also be closed to observe the Martin Luther King,
Jr. holiday.
Three successful holiday children's programs were held this month with more than 125
attendees. Also, the Children's Library provided programs to four kindergarten classes.
"Billy" the robotic book is still in the design stage; however, it should be here in time to
appear at the Art Fair in May.
