PAGE 2
NOVEMBER 15, 1995, LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
The Board discussed the upcoming Amnesty Period and decided not to tie the collection
of canned goods for the needy directly to the return of overdue materials; rather, to
encourage people to donate food instead.
Upon motion by Jackie Alsobrook, second by Joe Rex, the Board voted not to increase
the overdue fine charge at this time; motion passed unanimously.
Ms. Lewis said that recently a person or persons unknown has /have damaged nineteen
books. The police have been advised and are conducting periodic "walk throughs ", and
the staff schedule has been changed to provide additional surveillance of the areas in the
front of the building. She is looking into the installation of a video surveillance system.
The staff will conduct a physical inventory soon if the required hardware and software will
be available; if not then sometime before April 1.
Kathie Gibbs noted the Friends fall luncheon was very successful and the money will be
used for the Children's Department as usual. Ms. Lewis said the Friends had been asked
to help staff the concession booth(s) at the July `96 Celebrate America festivities, and if
they did, they would receive part of the profits. This will be discussed in more detail soon.
The meeting adjourned at 5 PM.
Frances Ellis, Secretary
M
d.i61 qS_
Date Approved
