VITA <br />of <br />BEVERLY ANN LEWIS <br />Beverly Ann Lewis is a professional librarian with more than thirteen <br />years experience in public and special libraries. She received her <br />M.S. from the University of North Texas and her Community Librarian <br />Certificate from the Province of British Columbia. <br />Ms. Lewis was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended public schools <br />there. She received her A.A. from Stephens College where she was named <br />Outstanding Junior and was the college newspaper's <br />photographer /reporter. She received her B.S. from Syracuse University <br />where she majored in Journalism and Political Science. She was an <br />officer on the Student Activities Council and in Pi Beta Phi sorority. <br />While residing in British Columbia, Canada, Ms. Lewis studied <br />librarianship in a provincial education program and was certified as a <br />Community Librarian. She served as the Director of the Vanderhoof <br />Public Library in Vanderhoof, B.C., for three and a half years. During <br />her directorship she established a local history collection and adult <br />outreach services. She also reorganized the volunteer program. <br />After returning to the U.S., Ms. Lewis served as the Director of the <br />Oxford Memorial Public Library in Oxford, N.Y. for three and a half <br />years. She managed an active readers advisory service and implemented <br />an extended elderly outreach program. <br />After her 1978 move to Texas, she was responsible for organizing a <br />technical library in an international packaging corporation. During <br />her six years at Tetra Pak, she established branch documentation <br />centers and addressed numerous seminars about the importance of records <br />and information management. <br />During this period, Ms. Lewis also attended the School of Library and <br />Information Science at the University of North Texas part -time. She <br />received her Master of Science in Library Science in 1988. <br />Since December, Ms. Lewis has been a Reference Librarian at the <br />Carrollton Public Library. She has written genre bibliographies, <br />compiled information desk procedures, and completed deselection <br />projects. <br />Ms. Lewis has a son, Charles Marvin Sperry, a Texas A &M graduate, who <br />works in Big Sky, Montana. Her daughter, Ferne Marie McDonald, is a <br />Murray State College graduate and attends Oklahoma State University. <br />
