lask)mm� <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />JULY 18, 1990 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session, <br />July 18, 1990, at 4 P.M. in the Library Gallery with Virginia <br />Gibbs, Chairman presiding. Present were Jean Gibson, Rogene <br />Patterson, Bill Hagood, Eric Tate and Frances Ellis, Secretary. <br />Beverly Lewis, Library Director, was present. Absent were <br />Jackie Alsobrook, Beth Shelton and Bill Neely. Claire Haslam <br />of the Friends of the Library was not present. <br />The minutes of the June 13, 1990, meeting were approved as <br />circulated. <br />The Director discussed the City Budget Report, noting the <br />accounts for facility maintenance and supplies were still over. <br />She reported a 19 percent increase in circulation this year <br />over 1989. During the evening open hours, an average of 101 <br />items circulated each evening. The Dial -A -Story line recorded <br />3,110 calls in June. It is changed each of the five days the <br />Library is open. There were 45 memorials during June. <br />She distributed the June accessions list which includes the <br />following new titles: 166 adult fiction, 321 adult non - fiction, <br />419 juvenile fiction, and 94 juvenile non - fiction. <br />The Director noted the Summer Reading Club programs were being <br />well attended with more chldren participating than last year; <br />92 attended "Charlotte's Web" and Dave Montgomery's spider <br />exhibit; 82 attended the "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe" and Dr. <br />Max Weinberg's program. <br />Mrs. Gibbs called attention to the Library Accounts which have <br />been incorporated into the City's accounting system. The <br />Director noted the one for J.A. Love had not been included with <br />the others. Gene Anderson, City Finance Director, recommended <br />this be done. Mrs. Gibbs asked Bill Hagood to check on the <br />accounts, and bring a status report to the August meeting. The <br />Board agreed it should have a monthly report about the accounts <br />from the City. <br />Tate moved the Finance Director provide this report, motion <br />seconded, discussed, and passed. <br />
