lask)mm� PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD JULY 18, 1990 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session, July 18, 1990, at 4 P.M. in the Library Gallery with Virginia Gibbs, Chairman presiding. Present were Jean Gibson, Rogene Patterson, Bill Hagood, Eric Tate and Frances Ellis, Secretary. Beverly Lewis, Library Director, was present. Absent were Jackie Alsobrook, Beth Shelton and Bill Neely. Claire Haslam of the Friends of the Library was not present. The minutes of the June 13, 1990, meeting were approved as circulated. The Director discussed the City Budget Report, noting the accounts for facility maintenance and supplies were still over. She reported a 19 percent increase in circulation this year over 1989. During the evening open hours, an average of 101 items circulated each evening. The Dial -A -Story line recorded 3,110 calls in June. It is changed each of the five days the Library is open. There were 45 memorials during June. She distributed the June accessions list which includes the following new titles: 166 adult fiction, 321 adult non - fiction, 419 juvenile fiction, and 94 juvenile non - fiction. The Director noted the Summer Reading Club programs were being well attended with more chldren participating than last year; 92 attended "Charlotte's Web" and Dave Montgomery's spider exhibit; 82 attended the "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe" and Dr. Max Weinberg's program. Mrs. Gibbs called attention to the Library Accounts which have been incorporated into the City's accounting system. The Director noted the one for J.A. Love had not been included with the others. Gene Anderson, City Finance Director, recommended this be done. Mrs. Gibbs asked Bill Hagood to check on the accounts, and bring a status report to the August meeting. The Board agreed it should have a monthly report about the accounts from the City. Tate moved the Finance Director provide this report, motion seconded, discussed, and passed.
