Members volunteered to serve on the Library Board <br />Committees: Promotion and Public Relations - Mrs. <br />Alsobrook, Chairman, and members Gibbs, Gibson, and Neely. <br />One responsibility would be to drive Pamela Sidnell, <br />Youth Librarian, to schools to present programs. The <br />Director will chair the Automation Committee, and members <br />are Hagood, Patterson, and Shelton. The Exhibit Committee <br />consists of Ellis, Gibbs, Gibson, the Director, and will <br />meet June 18 to set up the display of old plates. <br />Mrs. Shelton reported for the Nominating Committee and the <br />following officers were elected: Virginia Gibbs, <br />Chairman; Bill Neely, VIce- Chairman; and Frances Ellis, <br />Secretary. <br />Tate moved the purchase of the 20 volume set of Merit <br />Students Encyclopedia for $499; motion seconded, <br />discussed, and passed. Members looked at the new large <br />screen TV which cost $1,740. The Director reported it has <br />been well received by attendees at several programs where <br />videos from the Library's collection were shown. <br />Mrs. Haslam reported plans were underway for another book <br />review in the fall; the membership list was being updated, <br />and the Internal Revenue Service report was being <br />completed. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:20 PM. <br />v <br />vDatlApproved Frances Ellis, Secretary <br />
