M I N U T E S <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING <br />Wednesday, January 18, 1989 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met January 18, <br />1989 at 4 p.m. in the Library Gallery with Chairman Bill <br />Hagood presiding. Board members Rogene Patterson, Beth <br />Shelton, William Neely, Virginia Gibbs, Jean Gibson, Jackie <br />Alsbrook, and Frances Ellis, Secretary, attended. Library <br />Director Beverly Ann Lewis and Claire Haslam, President of <br />the Friends of the Library, also attended. <br />The minutes of the December 14, 1989 meeting were <br />approved as circulated. <br />Ms. Lewis presented the City budget report and the <br />Library statistical report. She advised that volunteers would <br />begin work on the membership card files and a report would be <br />available in a few months. <br />During her Director's report, Ms. Lewis invited Board <br />members to go into the Library to see the arrangement of <br />former Director's pictures on the wall opposite the adult <br />card catalogs. She asked for two signatures on the check to <br />pay for the two Christmas wreaths from Reep's Furniture. She <br />also announced the Library's special funds such as the Love <br />Fund were now being managed by the City Finance Director, <br />Gene Anderson, who is researching where to deposit them for <br />the best interest. <br />Chairman Hagood asked that quarterly reports be made on <br />these accounts to the Board. Ms. Lewis said that reports <br />would be provided and that there are many places where the <br />money could be beneficial. <br />Ms. Lewis said she had written Mrs. John Love earlier <br />this month to answer her letter of regret at not being able <br />to attend the 1987 Dedication. <br />She and Mrs. Alsobrook announced the February 15 meeting <br />of the Texas State Library Association for the annual <br />Legislative Day in Austin, and presented each Board Member <br />with a copy of the January 1989 Texas Library Friends and <br />Trustees Newsletter, the Library Bill of Rights, and other <br />pertinent statements for Board Member's files. <br />Ms. Lewis discussed the December accession list and said <br />that 83 videos had been received from the MacArthur <br />Foundation and would soon be on the shelves. She said the <br />rotating NETLS video collection of 30 videos is changed every <br />3 months. <br />
