PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />June 19, 1991 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session, <br />June 19, 1991, at 4 P.M. in the Gallery with Virginia Gibbs, <br />Chairman, presiding. Members present were Bill Neely, Bill <br />Hagood, Rogene Patterson, Beth Shelton, Jean Gibson, and Frances <br />Ellis, Secretary. Absent were Joe Rex and Jackie Alsobrook. <br />Beverly Lewis, Library Director, attended, as did Thomas Seay, <br />NETLS Lay Representative. Bill Hayter represented the Friends <br />of the Library. <br />Minutes of the May 19 meeting were approved as circulated. <br />The Director discussed the budget report. She called attention <br />to the Circulation Report which indicates the year's total was <br />120,478 which is nearly 30o higher than 1990. She said of the <br />1,208 videos; the May circulation showed 1,000 circulated were <br />non - fiction and 1,500 fiction. She announced the Order of the <br />Eagles had given $300 to buy audio books for the elderly. <br />Neely asked if Library patrons had ever been asked to give their <br />videos and audios, and the Director said she would publicize the <br />opportunity for them to do so. <br />The Director noted 575 books had been accessioned in May, 365 of <br />them adult titles and 210 juvenile. <br />Hagood presented a financial study of the automation funding, <br />showing that the Library Board would have $14,300 to give for <br />the fund in 1992 and $1,300 for 1993, with interest earned both <br />years to raise the amounts to at least $20,000 for each year. <br />He moved the Board recommend automation and be willing to <br />provide half of the amount of money required above the remaining <br />Bond money of about $60,000. Motion seconded, debated and <br />passed. <br />The funds would amount to something like this: <br />1992: $60,000 (Bond) <br />+ $20,000 (City & Trust Interest) <br />$80,000 <br />1993: $30,000 (City) <br />+ $30,000 (Trust Interest & Funds) <br />$ 60,000 <br />Total required - $140,000 <br />
