Library Advisory Board <br />August 21, 2002 <br />Page 2 <br />Adult Outreach presented 2 programs with 28 attending at Sterling House <br />and 26 attending at Paris Nursing Home. Interlibrary Loans had 28 <br />transactions. <br />Betty Landon, Director presented an in- service on privacy issues. She <br />stated that what you read, see, and do in the Library is private. <br />Librarians cannot disclose information about patrons. The library system <br />doesn't keep records of transactions after the material is checked in. She <br />also stated that the first shipment of DVD's has been ordered and does <br />include children's DVD's. Betty was to attend a budget meeting at the City <br />Council on August 21 to present her new budget for the year 2003. <br />There was no unfinished business and no report from the Friends of the <br />Library. <br />Betty stated that she is going to try a Half Price Fine Day on Wednesdays <br />starting in the month of October. The Library will receive 2 computers <br />from a TIF grant and will be connected to the city's T -1 line from the <br />grant. This T -1 line will speed up internet connections in the Library. <br />Betty will do a program on the Library at a Newcomer's meeting in the <br />spring. <br />The meeting adjourned at 4:50.
