MARCH 17, 1999 <br />MINUTES <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at <br />4 PM in the Gallery with Chairman Jackie Alsobrook presiding and these members present: <br />Virginia Gibbs, John Howison, Beth Shelton, and Frances Ellis, Secretary. Absent were Curtis <br />Fendley, Sarah Gambil, Rogene Patterson and Ralph Rodgers. Catherine Browning, Friends <br />President, and Beverly Lewis, Library Director, were present. <br />The February 10, 1999, Minutes were corrected to reflect Virginia Gibbs being present. <br />The Budget Report showed 39.66% expenditures to date which Ms. Lewis indicated was in line <br />for the five months of this fiscal year. <br />The Statistical Report showed a 7% increase in circulation over the same month last year and <br />25,839 items circulated in February. Year to date there is a 10.9% increase and 126,541 items <br />have been circulated. Also, Mrs. Lewis advised more reserves were placed last month and there <br />were more patrons using the library's resources. 809 new titles were added to the collection. <br />In February, there were 15 children's programs and 190 kids and 104 adults attended. The <br />storytime series for babies concluded in February with 11 young attendees. The toddler storytime <br />also concluded and there were 19 attendees in that series. <br />Library materials were delivered to 14 senior group locations and 8 homebound patrons in <br />February. The outreach circulation included 825 books; 287 videos; 267 audio books; and 77 <br />magazmes. <br />Chairman Alsobrook noted the Board received a nice thank you note from Keitt Wood. <br />Chairman Alsobrook advised she and Circulation Services Supervisor Judy Vickers attended the <br />NETLS meeting February 17. The meeting focus was on planning for the future and most <br />attendees indicated strong interest in staying current with technological changes and requested <br />NETLS help libraries do so. <br />The Board discussed the issue of county funding and requested the committee to meet again to <br />finalize a proposal to bring back to the Board in April. <br />-more- <br />
