Library Advisory Board <br />September 19, 2001 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />September 19, 2001 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at 4PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Peggy Guthrie, Fran Neeley, John Howison, Nancee Salzman, Vicki <br />Terlap, Callie Thompson, Friends President and Betty Landon, Library <br />Director. Not attending were Sarah Gambill and Walter Williams. <br />The August 15, 2001 Minutes were approved. <br />Nancee Salzman welcomed Peggy Guthrie and Vicki Terlap as new <br />members. The budget report was distributed. Betty stated that the library <br />is still under budget for this fiscal year, with $90,000 remaining. They are <br />still ordering books and audio /visual materials to finish spending the book <br />budget. <br />The August Statistical Report showed that overall circulation was up 3.4% <br />Juvenile circulation for August was lower than the previous August. <br />Electronic reference assistance was up, and interlibrary loan was down. <br />Twenty memorials were given which totaled $398. Volunteer hours were <br />up and library visits were down slightly. <br />Children's Services issued the Billy Book schedule through October. Bill <br />Kennedy will be doing Billy Book again this year. The new Children's <br />schedule is beginning with a Birthday program on September 25. The <br />Toddler program will begin in October. Billy Book will be at the <br />Children's Festival on October 27, which will be held on the Plaza. <br />Children's Services will host a booth at this event, which will include <br />crafts. <br />In the Adult Outreach program, 1169 books were circulated, 358 audio <br />books, 407 videos, and 31 magazines, and 40 interlibrary loans. Programs <br />were presented at Heritage Care, Sterling House and Paris Oaks, with a <br />total of 48 attending. There were 60 volunteer hours. <br />
