We don't mind paying for extra water to keep our yard and flower beds alive. We have
worked hard establishing a well - groomed yard and flower beds. We feel that it improves the
value of our home and property, not counting keeping the neighborhood and Paris looking
beautiful. When we are penalized by the city for this by paying for a sewage rate on top of the
extra water cost to keep our yard alive, then something is wrong. The only thing anyone can
suggest is to spend more money by buying an extra water meter to put our sprinklers on so that
we are not penalized. Maybe the banks and other offices that have beautiful lawns can afford this
but we can't. As one of our neighbors said "I'll probably die before I recoup the investment of the
extra meter."
We feel completely betrayed by the city when you know that people use more water in
the summer months for watering lawns and not for sewage. Is it too simple to figure out that
families' waste water is pretty much the same year round ?? Therefore you should charge a base
rate according to the average of 9 month's sewer use and definitely not use the three summer
months when water usage is up for watering lawns and not for sewage! Water for the lawn does
not go through the sewer and we would like you to explain as we're sure everyone in Paris would
Eke to know, how it would affect the sewer to such extremes to warrant this rate you have now.
We have enclosed our water / sewage bill for this year to show you exactly why we and
we feel others in Paris are upset. We feel that if this meeting does not accomplish a new aspect of
charging for sewage we feel as citizens of Paris that we will begin to find and organize others
(which there are many) to see if we as a majority can have this changed.
Sincerely,
Clay & Kathi en Stafford _
TOE 5 K
