Robert Campbell: "Not necessarily."
Dan Smith: "A lot of the residential users, it was explained to me, their peak
days are when they're watering their lawns. But the power companies, they're only
interested in evaporation. They may not be running all their units."
Ray Ball: "If it's hot, they're going to be running air - conditioning units."
Robert Campbell: "The power plants sell power to different purchasers, and the
thing about it, those purchasers may find a cheaper power supply from the Houston
area, rather than here. So they may have only three units operating instead of
four. They might be only selling capacity for three."
Reeves Hayter: "If you look at the city of Paris usage pattern, as a whole, they
use more water on the weekday than on the weekend, and that's because they got a
commercial and industrial component. If you look at Lamar County Water, their
peak time is the weekend, because that's when everybody is home using water, and
they don't have any industrial customers."
Robert Campbell: "Right. All that points out that there is diversity in the
system."
Reeves Hayter: "OK. So, I believe the point here was, we are taking care of
getting the peak numbers into the presentation. OK, next item is a review of
budget information. Shawn ?"
Shawn Napier: "I passed out to everybody the last updated budget, as of Jan. 2,
from four different consultants. One thing I am waiting on is for Corey and Ken
(from HDR Consulting) to get back with me concerning our tasks list. I was going
to pass out a copy of the tasks list whenever it's updated, but they were out of
their offices today and yesterday, and I was unable to get hold of them. As soon
as I get that, probably the next meeting, I will pass out the list that includes
all the tasks, and the breakdowns of it. Reeves and I spoke to Jim Mathews this
week, and also Jim Mathews and'HDR got together during the Christmas break, and
Jim had a chance to review their last presentations. From what I got back, he
pretty much agreed on all major concepts that HDR presented to us. Jim didn't see
any major problems with anything. We'll still be working a little with Jim
Mathews and with Jack Stowe, and of course with HDR."
Reeves Hayter: "Now the next item, Possible Future Agenda Items, I'd like to
throw out the possibility of our next meeting date ... we had talked with HDR since
the last meeting, and they agreed they would submit their final report by the
22nd, which is our next meeting date. Now, that is going to be a pretty quick
report, I'm sure - a substantial amount of information, and I don't expect to get
it much ahead of the 22nd. In addition, I've talked with Pete Kampfer today about
the Economic Development Corporation's input, and Pete has indicated he hopes to
have something within the next two weeks. I asked if that could be made available
to us before the 22nd. He did not promise it before the 22nd, but he did promise
before our first meeting in February, Feb. 5. I would like to suggest that we
receive these reports and distribute them to the committee by about Jan. 22, but
not meet on the 22nd unless y'all have something you particularly want to do. I
think its going take a little while to assimilate both those pieces of
