MINUTES <br />WORK SESSION <br />LAKE PAT MAYSE STUDY COMMITTEE <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2008 <br />1. Call the meeting to order. <br />Chairman Hayter called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. <br />2. Committee member roll call. <br />Janice Ellis called the roll. <br />Members present were Herb Campell, John Kruntorad, Rick McDougall, Gene McWaters, <br />Michael Moffitt, Sharron Nabors, Jim Noble, and Dan Smith. Ex- Officio Members present were <br />Renee Harvey, Jim Kays, Frank Wright, and Ray Ball. Members absent were Dennis Chalaire and <br />Richard Quarles. Ex- Officio members absent were Byron Billman and Bob Campbell. Alternate <br />member Joan Mathis was absent. <br />Also, present were city staff Shawn Napier, City Engineer; Kent McIlyar, City Attorney; <br />Doug Harris, Interim Public Utilities Director; and Janice Ellis, City Clerk. <br />3. Citizens forum. <br />Jackie Alsobrook, 4135 Misty Lane - she spoke in opposition of selling water, but did say <br />if water was sold at all that it should only be sold in Lamar County. <br />4. Question and Answer session with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. (See List of Questions for <br />the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers attached as Exhibit "A ") <br />Shawn Napier introduced Randall Dobbs, consultant for the City of Irving, Todd Reck, and <br />Steve Pettit from the City of Irving. Mr. Napier also introduced Jan Hotubee, Mark Ellison and <br />Amy Jordan with the Corps of Engineers. <br />(1) Mark Ellison said the minimum lake level at which the boat ramps at Pat Mayse were <br />operation was approximately 441 feet and the maximum level was approximately 448 <br />feet. He said with regard to road closures you get in trouble around 457 feet. <br />(2) With regard to the conservation pool, Jan Hotubee said anything over 451 feet would <br />cause overflow. She said there was no way to control it without construction and the <br />process was much more involved than just putting in a gate. Prior to construction, <br />a dam safety study would be required, as well as congressional authorization. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
