Board members present were: Dr. Bercher,
Dr. Brooks, Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Norment, Dr. Cutrell, and Dr. Strom.
Others present were: Dr. Lucy Fetner, Lorrin Scott, Anthony Bethel,
and Sharon Seals.
Dr. Bercher introduced Dr. Lucy Fetner to the board members. He ex-
plained that the services of our Health Department are really needed
with a county population of 45,000 people. We do have a strong health
board and wish to reach more eligible people through the health depart-
ment.
Dr. Fetner explained that she is in private practice in Louisiana now.
She is interested in coming to work at the health department late next
Spring.
Lorrin Scott would continue the jail work if Dr. Fetner comes to work
here.
Dr. Fetner and Lorrin Scott left the meeting at 7:50 A.M.
The next session started at 7:51 A.M. Dr. Bercher made several additions
to the minutes from the last meeting. In the fourth paragraph, he added
that the amount would be $ 1,499.00 for the $ 200,000.00 - -- $ 400,000.00
liability premium for Lorrin Scott. In the fifth paragraph, he stated
the board ruled against proposing a contract for Dr. Agnes Xavier. In
the seventh paragraph, he added that Lorrin Scott saw 112 jail patients
from November 13,1989 to November 27, 1989.
Gene Anderson was not present to discuss pay for Dr. Fetner. The board
agreed to reimburse Dr. Strom since November 13, 1989 for his consul-
tative services with Lorrin Scott. Dr. Cutrell proposed that we pay
Dr. Strom $ 100.00 a week for 1 hour of service. Dr. Strom spends more
than 1 hour weekly as he goes to the health department to go over charts
once or twice weekly.
Anthony Bethel stated that he and Bob Ricks need communication in their
trucks, possibly mobile phones. Dr. Brooks suggested they get three bids
on phones. Dr. Bercher asked Anthony to check everything out before our
next meeting.
Dr. Strom has received many complaints on Paris restaurants lately. The
restaurants haven't been checked regular since August, 1989. The inspect-
ions need to be consistent and thorough.
Septic Fees and Restaurant Inspections will be discussed at the meeting
in January, 1990. Dr. Bercher proposed that the City and County should
pay for our breakfast at the board meetings.
