Page 2 Board Meeting
The budget for next year i.e., July 1, 1983 thru June 30, 1984 was $127,821.96
All of the items were considered by the board and it was pointed out that there
was pay for a mosquito control supervisor, but no pay for mosquito workers.
It was explained that we might be able to borrow two responsible workers from
the City to drive the new trucks which we are getting and they would be under
City pay. Then for the five months that the trucks are not being used by
Mosquito Control, they could be used by the City, provided they could be
given proper care, etc. Without this, we would, either have to use CETA
workers or hire mosquito workers from our own bank funds.
Dr. Hillhouse's increase in salary was discussed in detail and the reasons
that he asked for the salary. This was explained to their satisfaction and
they approved both budgets, unanimously, in a private session.
In going over the budget items, it was suggested that we allow $1,500.00
for an audit instead of $500.00 and to omit this from our six months budget
and incorporate it in next year's budget.
There was some discussion concerning health certificates for personnel
working in restaurants. Mrs. Norment asked that this subject be discussed
in full at our next meeting. She also asked Betty Kennedy to seek information
concerning this in other Cities, about the size of Paris, before our next
meeting.
Dr. Massey suggested letting the public know the functions of the Health
Unit and the benefits received by the entire public as a whole, and not
just a one on one basis. These things being; Mosquito Control, clean
restaurants, immunizations, checking on health complaints, etc.
