July 28, 1983
ADVISORY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
MINUTES
The Advisory Board of Health met at the Paris-Lamar County Health Unit on
Thursday, July 28, 1983, at 7:00 P.M. The following members were present:
Mrs. Ann Norment, Mrs. Frances Ellis, Dr. Rick Casey, and Mr. Hack Blankenship.
Those memebers not present were Dr. McMillan, Dr. Bercher, Dr. Don Massey, and
Dr. Wally Kraft.
Dr. Hillhouse began the meeting about 7 :30 by suggesting the Board elect a
Chairman, since Mr. Deatherage is no longer on the Board. This was done imm-
ediately, and Mrs. Norment was elected as Chairman.
The Business meeting began by Dr. Hillhouse volunteering to go over the budget
with the members. The firsm discussion was the salaries and the fact that the
State is sending monies for two clerk's salaries, wbich isadeposited to our
budget and paid locally.
Two budgets were presented, one which included two mosquito workers to be paid
locally and the other without mosquito workers and depending on CETA for the
workers. The fact was brought upthat by using CETA workers, we are without
workers in April, May, September, and October. A discussion followed about the
possibility of using a City Employee during these months for Mosquito Control.
It was decided to go over the budget without mosquito workers, and to check
into this possibility.
Dr. Hillhouse mentioned the fact that he had hopes of, later on, to get
another Nurse and Clerk and try to get WIC for our Health Department. He ex-
plained that the Health Dept. would have to pay the wages for these for the
first 4 to 6 months, then the State would reimburse us for this.
