Page 2 Minutes
A discussion of transforming our records into microfilm or computer followed
this. It was decided that since the Vital Statistics are filed with the
County Clerk's Office and also at the Texas Department of Health in Austin, it
would not be necessary to do this, at this time.
Dr. Hillhouse akked for the doctors' opinion on the Health Unit giving pneu-
monia and flu shots to the elderly, at a minimal fee. Dr. Bercher said he
felt he could speak for all the doctors in considering that this is the same
as immunization, and would be alright.
When asked about Dr. Hillhouse seeing other patients, for colds, sore throats,
etc., Dr. Bercher's opinion was that he should determine whether or not a
child , with problems, should receive an Immunization, and anything other
than preventative medicine, would be overstepping his bounds.
Dr. Casey and Dr. Hillhouse discussed the pre-natals and how the new system
was working. Dr. Casey said he had no evidence of it working. Dr. Hillhouse
said they were not supposed to come back to the Health Unit unless they had
been denied care at the Hospital and Doctor's office. He said he would check
with Mrs. Main on how she is handling this.
Dr. Bercher brought up the subject of inspection of restaurants. Dr. Hillhouse
explained to him that it was almost impossible right now, with only two (2)
inspectors. He said that since another inspector had been provided in the
budget, that problem should be solved in the near future.
Mrs. Norment suggested that Dr. Hillhouse work up an administrative policy
for efficiency, to make sure these things were being done. She suggested the
Sanitation Inspector turn in a list of how many restaurants, and which ones
were checked every day. Dr. Hillhouse said he would check with Mr. Pursifull
on his priorities, as far as sanitation was concerned.
