October 27, 1983
ADVISORY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
MINUTES
The Advisory Board of Health met at the Paris -Lamar County Health Unit on
Thursday, October 27, 1983, at 7 :00 P.M. The following members were present:
Mrs. Ann "torment, Dr. Rick Casey, Dr. Richard Bercher, and Mr. Hack Blanken-
ship. Those members not present were: Dr. McMillan, Dr. Massey, Mrs. Frances
Ellis, and Dr. Wally Kraft. Also present was Dr. Hillhouse, Director of the
Health Unit.
Mrs. Norment called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M., and asked Mr. Blanken-
ship to report on his meetinq with Harold Greene concerning the Budget. He
stated that he had talked with Mr. Greene about changing the amount of salary
for two clerks from the amount the State was sending, to 8.3 of their current
salary. (this being the same amount the City employees were given.) Mr.
Greene explained that he thought employees' salary at the Health Unit should
be kept in line with those at the City. Mr. Blankenship told him this was
probably illegal, since the salaries were coming from the State thru contract.
Dr. Hillhouse told the Board that Mr. Greene had called that day, and told
him to continue the salaries at the amount the State was sending. He also
reported to them that the employees on local budget at the Health Unit would
become e&igible for the City Retirement program bhe-ffis -t.,of October, 1983,
and would be retroactive.
A discussion of the budget and the Director's pay followed. Dr. Hillhouse
stated he could not work for the amount set forth in the budget, but would
be willing to discuss it. Dr. Bercher made the motion that two of the Board
Members go and discuss the budget further with Harold Greene. Mr. Blankenship
and Dr. Bercher agreed to do this.
