Lamar County Rural Health Clinic Board <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />The Rural Health Clinic Board held a meeting October 19, <br />1993 at 7:00 AM at St, Joseph's Hospital in the Azalea <br />Room. Those in attendance included Dr. Cutrell, Troy <br />Omens~ Mike Malone, T. K. Haynes, Evelyn Freeman, Gary <br />Gunder, TuIie Maddox, Mike Norby and Jae Dickinson. <br />Others in attendance included Monty McLaurin, Dr. Robert <br />Moseley, Ron Ragan, Gary ConweIl and Carrie Thompson. <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:2O. The previous <br />minutes were read, corrected and approved. <br />Discussion was held regarding the RHC application. Mike <br />Norby said there does not seem to be a problem with Joint <br />ownership between the City and County. He said he was <br />going to try to get something in writing. <br />Gary Gunder asked if the RHC needs a legal identity. Mike <br />Norby said no that it would be kept under the City and <br />County' Mr. Gunder then asked if we had to get approval <br />from both the City and County. Dr. Cutrell said basically <br />yes. Evelyn Freeman asked were the people's names from <br />this board taken to the City and County to be approved? <br />The answer was no. T.K. said if there were any expenses <br />outside the current budget then the decisions for those <br />expenses would go back to the City and County, Mr- Gunder <br />asked would any monies added by the hospitals go into the <br />City fund? T.K. said yes but they would be put under the <br />Health Dept. budget and earmarked for a designated <br />purpose. Evelyn said actually this board was working with <br />authority to make plans but not to spend money without the <br />Health Dept. board, City and County approval. <br />Discussion was held regarding the Medical Director <br />position. Evelyn said the four OB/Gyn physicians had a <br />lot of questions regarding liability. No decision was <br />made between the four OB/Gyn physicians as to who would <br />serve as Medical Director. All four of them have serious <br />questions that need to be discussed. The four had talked <br />about possibly shared responsibility meaning possible one <br />every three months. Mr. Butler told Evelyn that there was <br />a new law that might help the situation. Julie Maddox <br />said we would need to find out how it works with rotating <br />Medical Directors. Mike Norby said St. Joseph's has <br />identified one person for the Family Practice Medical <br />Director but they were not sure how it was going to work <br />with the current Medical Director. <br />
