PARIS -LAMAR COUNTY HEALTH BOARD
MINUTES
The Paris -Lamar County Health Board met on Tuesday, March 31, 1992 at
the Holiday Inn.
Mrs. Ann Norment called the meeting to order at 7:00 A.M.
Quorum present: Mrs. Ann Norment, Mrs. Francis Ellis, Rev. Evans, Dr.
Bert Strom. Others present were: T.K. Haynes, Michael Malone, Glenn
Stephens, Kevin Parsons, Billy Joe Burnett, and Anthony Bethel.
Dr. Strom gave a report on the luncheon meeting in.Tyler on March 21,
1992, with Dr. Crowder. He suggested that our board have a workshop
with Dr. Crowder and Cheri Williams to discuss how other health boards
operate in Region 7. The workshop will be on April 21, 1992 at 6:3.0.;
P.M. here in Paris. Long range goals for the health department will be
discussed.
Dr. Strom suggested that we form a medical review group to look at how
Dr. Burns is doing at the jail, then try to trim the medical costs if
possible. Indigent Health Care spent $400,000.00 in Lamar County in
1991. T.K. Haynes suggested that screening for Indigent Health Care
be placed at the health department and that the qualified indigent be
seen there. Anthony suggested that the county hire a doctor at the
health department to take care of the indigent.
Anthony reported that our copy machine has been in the shop for repairs
again. Bids have been taken for a new copy machine. Dr. Strom made a
motion that we purchase a new copy machine. Rev, Evans seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
Anthony gave the monthly report. Fees were down due to fewer medical
services.
This meeting adjourned at 8:15 A.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
