PARIS -LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />MINUTES OF MEETING <br />The Paris -Lamar County Board of Health held its regular <br />meeting on Wednesday, October 23rd, 1996, at St. Joseph's <br />Hospital. Board members in attendance included Dr. <br />Charles Tarvin, Dr. Robert Moseley, Mrs. Ann N'orment, and <br />Mrs. Prentiss Ellis. Others in attendance included Judge <br />Chuck Superville, Mr. Alan Weatherford, Ms. Latricia <br />Miller, Mr. Anthony Bethel, Mr. Bob Ricks, Mr. Mike Norby, <br />Mr. Gary Conwell, Mrs. Barbra Francis, Dr. Jon Plummer, <br />and Alex Brewer. <br />A quorum was established, and the meeting was called to <br />order at 7:05 am. Dr. Tarvin made a motion seconded by <br />Dr. Moseley, that the minutes from the previous meeting be <br />approved. The motion carried. <br />Alex Brewer with Vertex made a presentation to the Board <br />regarding billing for Medicaid administrative charges, <br />which are not currently being billed. Mr. Brewer stated <br />that the fee for Vertex' services is a 22 per cent <br />contingency fee of actual recoveries. The Board suggested <br />that the City Attorney and County Judge review the <br />contracts submitted by Mr. Brewer. <br />Under discussion of replacement of Barbra Francis, Mr. <br />Bethel informed the Board that he had been contacted by <br />two people regarding the position. Mr. Bethel informed <br />the Board of the options, which were to move up one of the <br />WIC nurses and continue to operate as we are currently <br />doing, move one of the WIC nurses up and hire a part -time <br />nutritionist, or hire a full time nutritionist. No formal <br />action was taken on this matter. <br />Under discussion of the front counter area, Mr. <br />Weatherford said he had tried to get Mr. Jordan to come to <br />the Health Department to prepare a bid. Dr. Tarvin <br />suggested that Mr. Bethel solicit bids from other sources. <br />Dr. Moseley suggested that the Board .send a letter to Dan <br />Bono with a copy to Larry Jordan. <br />Mr. Bethel passed out monthly reports for July, August, <br />and September, 1996. <br />Dr. Plummer discussed problems he was experiencing with <br />the jail. It was suggested that the Board send a letter <br />to the Sheriff about jail problems. <br />The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, January 15, <br />1997, at McCuistion Hospital..
