City Council Drainage Study Committee
April 2, 2001
Page 6
Number Nine will need some maintenance, but part of that project has been
completed. City Manager Malone said the Tenth Project is the one that is
untouched. The City Manager said the Eleventh Project is an area that is
totally in need of attention. He said one of the solutions that could work is
to clean the ditches out and establish grass, so that is something that could
be accomplished.
The Committee discussed the IOt' Street Project with the City Manager and
discussed the safety hazard of flooding in that area.
Mr. Townsend discussed some of the small drainage projects that they have
started and presented pictures of those projects before and after they were
completed. Mr. Townsend advised the Committee that he has quotes for
several small drainage projects that the NRCS will be dealing with and
several of the small projects that the USDA is also looking at some of those
issues and will be helping clean them up. Mr. Townsend continued to
discuss the drainage problems that have been identified and the solutions
in solving those problems.
City Manager Malone suggested that he make recommendations from the
Committee to the City Council for projects that have been identified
tonight that have not already been made. City Manager said the last time
the Committee met they covered the NRCS projects, a pilot channel in the
area of the Guest property, the Margraves pilot channel south of that, along
with identifying an easement through that addition, along with projects
that citizens have reported. He felt that city staff is working on everything
that can be worked on at this time. The City Manager said the Committee
might want to make a decision regarding the 10t' Street Project, they might
want to reconvene the Committee to receive another report and give a
recommendation to the City Council if there is any need. He said that
might come up with the 24t'' Street Project for discussion.
