Richard Nafe
Chairman Mallory called the meeting to order and the Minutes of April 12, 1978
were approved as presented.
The Board took up the petition of Vernon Brockway for a variance to Section
9- 601(1) of the Zoning Ordinance on Lot 10, Block A, College Addition, located
at 2343 W. Kaufman Street.
Mr. Brockway explained his need for a carport which has a side yard of 2 feet
instead of the required 5 feet. He said he had no access to the back of his
house and needed protection for his cars.
Discussion disclosed that the carport would not be enclosed and Mr. Nafe stated
he felt it should be allowed as no harm to the neighborhood would result from
it.
Mr. Nafe made a motion to approve the variance. Dr. Moore seconded the motion
which carried unanimously.
The next item was to consider the petition of Norman E. Thomas for a variance
to Section 9- 501(1) and 9- 601(1) of the Zoning Ordinance on Lot 18, Block 5,
Stellrose Addition located at 2330 Hubbard Street.
Mr. Thomas stated he needed protection for his cars and had no place to
construct a carport except on the east side of his house and needed the
variances to build 1 foot from the east side line and 15 feet from the front
property line.
Chairman Mallory stated he had received an objection from Dr. Dickson concern-
ing this and related it to the Board.
Mr. Thomas said he had talked to all his neighbors and they said they had no
objection to his proposal. He went on to say that the structure would be
open on all sides.
