MINUTES OF ORGANIZATION MEETING <br />THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />APRIL 23, 1974 <br />The Board of Adjustment met at .5:15 P.M. on the .23rd day. of April 1974, <br />in the Council Room, City Full..,, Paris., .Texas- The fol.lowing members were <br />pi,esent: Dr. B. M. Felty, lair. _Hubert Westfall, .Dr. _J.ames Brunette, and Mr. <br />Charlie Adkins. Members unable to .attend. were Mr.. James .Far.ri.s. and Mr. F. D. <br />Mallory, 111. Others present.were :. Mr. ..Kerry R.. Sweatt, City manager; Mr. <br />Join Cooke, Director of Public. Works; Mr.. Ed .Kharbat, acting City Engineer; <br />Mr. Ed Houk, Director of Planning; Mr. .Cyan ...Car:pbel I,. assistant to the planner; <br />Mr. Nathan Bell, property ovaner; and Mr.. Jim. Nobel. Thompson,. attorney. <br />The first item of business to come .before.the Board was the election of <br />officers. ic.ers. n, motion was made by Dr. James. Brunettthat Dr. B.. M. Felty serve <br />as Chairman. The motion was seconded by Mr. Charl.fe Adkins and then passed <br />unanimously. Dr. James Brunette made the motion that F. D. Mallory, III <br />serve as Alternate Chairman of the Board.. Mr.. -Hubert seconded the motion. <br />A notion that nominations cease was made. by Mr.. Charlie Adkins. After being <br />seconded by 14r. Hubert Westfall the motion carried unanimously. Dr. James <br />Brunette nominated Mr. Hubert .Westfall to .serve as Secretary. It was <br />seconded by Nis°. Charlie Adkins ,and carried unapposed. A motion was Made by <br />Dr. James Brunette and seconded by Mr. fiubert Westfall that Charlie Adkins <br />serve as Alternate Secretary. The motion carried unanimously. <br />This concluded the organizational business, to come before the Board at <br />this meeting. <br />Dr. Felty opened the meeting to . hear-the appeals-of f`lr.. Nathan Bell. <br />Tk:w Chairman read Petition No. .7401 - concerning.. rear.yard exception, and <br />ask Fr. Bell to connrtent. Mr...Bell ,. at this _time.,_ ask that the meeting <br />be recessed due to new options -that were. pending. . 14r. T.hompsod.a..representing <br />other interested parties backed up Mr. Bell.'s. request, saying that the new <br />options would be acceptable to the parties that be represented.. It was <br />also suggested that the appeal- to the Board .could ire .amnersded at that time. <br />Mr. Charlie Adkins made the mention that the meeting be .recessed until <br />May 7, 1974, at 5:25 P.M.
