MINUTES OF THE BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING <br />AUGUST 24, 1999 <br />The Budget Committee met in special session, Tuesday, August 24, <br />1999 6:00 P. M., City Council Chambers, City Hall, Paris, Texas. <br />Michael J. Pfiester, Chairman, called the meeting to order with the <br />following members present: Councilman Gene McWaters, Jr., <br />Councilman Kevin Gray, Donald G. Wilson, and James Baker. Also <br />present was City Manager Michael E. Malone, Director of Finance Gene <br />Anderson, and City Clerk Mattie Cunningham. <br />Chairman Pfiester called for discussion of the City Manager's proposed <br />1999 -2000 budget for the City of Paris. <br />City Manager Malone furnished the Committee with a description of the <br />departments and their functions. City Manager Malone said it was the <br />request of Chairman Pfiester that department heads be invited to the <br />meeting to go through their budget, and to try to keep the meeting to <br />a two hour time limit. <br />City Manager Malone said the first department that would be covered <br />is the City Council's budget, and explained that this is a department set <br />up in the city's budget to cover the expenses of the City Council, which <br />is the legislative body of the city. The City Council provides policy <br />directions. <br />City Manager Malone said there is a small amount budgeted for <br />Workers' Compensation Insurance of $11.00. Office Supplies has been <br />budgeted at $1,300.00. City Manager Malone said there is a large <br />amount of supplies expended such as making copies of ordinances and <br />resolutions, memorandums, and all types of supplies used for purposes <br />of keeping the City Council informed and sending out information. <br />Under postage, $600.00 had been placed in the budget for that, and as <br />of August $676.55 has been spent for postage. Food - Humans, $3,000 <br />has been budgeted for this expenditure, and $100.00 has been <br />budgeted for Mechanical. Under Communications $50.00 has been <br />budgeted, and to date $172.59 has been spent. Insurance and Bonds, <br />$33,680, Court Cost - Special Service Fees, $117,400.00 has been <br />budgeted.
