MINUTES OF THE BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING AUGUST 26, 1999 The Budget Committee met in special session, Thursday, August 26, 1999 6:00 P. M., City Council Chambers, City Hall, Paris, Texas. Michael J. Pfiester, Chairman, called the meeting to order with the following members present: Councilman Gene McWaters, Jr., Councilman Kevin Gray, Donald G. Wilson Vincent Battle, and James Baker. Also present was City Manager Michael E. Malone, Director of Finance Gene Anderson, and City Clerk Mattie Cunningham. Chairman Pfiester called for discussion of the City Manager's proposed 1999 -2000 budget for the City of Paris. City Manager Malone announced that the next department to be presented was the Sewer Maintenance Department which is a part of Public Works. Director of Public Works, B. A. Huddleston came forward presenting the Committee information on vehicle maintenance, a list of all the vehicles owned by the City of Paris, and a summary of the hotmix overlay program where the costs incurred are to be charged out to the $397,000.00. Mr. Huddleston also gave the Committee a copy of the service contract where they service vehicles and told how many vehicles are involved. Mr. Huddleston said there are seven employees and one -half supervisor salary in this department, and he is not asking for any additions or deletions in this area. Mr. Huddleston advised that the line items are general with some slight adjustments being made, and a few have been decreased slightly. Under Capital Outlay, Mr. Huddleston said there is $30,000.00 which is for lease purchase of a Jet Rodder and a backhoe. Mr. Huddleston advised that there is a reduction in the sewer main, it was cut in half. Mr. Wilson said Mr. Huddleston had the street and alley repairs in one of your other departments of $200,000.00, and he has $150,000.00 in this budget so that is $350,000.00, and in addition to that, there was $600,000.00 in overlays.
