MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />January 14, 1991 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Monday, <br />January .14, 1991, 6:00 P. M., City Council Chamber, City Hall, Paris, <br />Texas. Mayor Eric Clifford called the meeting to order with the <br />following Council Members present: Curtis Fendley, George Fisher, Jr., <br />Marshall H. Kent, Jr., E.W. (Bill) Booth, Billy Joe Burnett, and Emma <br />Smith. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City <br />Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. <br />Invocation was given by Reverend Ron Byers. <br />Mayor Clifford asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of <br />previous meetings, there being none, the minutes were approved as <br />presented. <br />City Manager Malone announced the first item of business was receipt of <br />reports from Committees, Boards, and Commissions. Minutes from the <br />Water and Sewer Rate Study Advisory Committee, Building Hazard <br />Inspection Committee, and Paris Public Library Advisory Board was <br />received with no action being required. <br />Resolution No. 91 -001 amending Resolution No. 90 -088 and 90 -095 <br />ordering a special election to be held on the third Saturday in <br />January, 1991; same being the 19th day of January, 1991, between the <br />hours of 7:00 A. M. and 7:00 P. M., by the qualified voters of the City <br />of Paris, Paris, Texas, for the purpose of authorizing the Imposition <br />of Sales and Use Tax under Section 4A of Article 5190.6 of Vernon's <br />Annotated Texas Statutes which would assess an additional one -half of <br />1% Sales and Use Tax within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, <br />which would fund a corporation to carry out Industrial Development <br />Programs as permitted by law was presented. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Booth for approval of the <br />resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />r <br />
