MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />January 21, 1991 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in special session, Monday <br />January 21, 1991, 5:15 P. M., City Council Chamber, City Hall, Paris, <br />Texas. Mayor. Clifford called the meeting to order with the following <br />Council Members present: Curtis Fendley, George Fisher, Jr., Marshall <br />H., Kent, Jr., E. W. (Bill) Booth, Billy Joe Burnett, and Emma Smith. <br />Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. <br />Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. <br />City Manager Malone announced the purpose of the special meeting was to <br />canvas the returns of the special election on local option sales tax to <br />be used only for industrial development activities held on January 19, <br />1991. <br />City Manager Malone called for the canvass of the returns of the City's <br />Special Election held on January 19, 1991 for local Option Sales Tax, <br />and, the returns were presented to Mayor Clifford and were read aloud. <br />Resolution No. 91 -013 resolving that the canvass of the returns of the <br />votes in the Special Election held on January 19, 1991 for local Option <br />Sales Tax to be used only for industrial development activities, it is <br />declared and determined that the imposition of sales and use tax for <br />industrial development failed by a vote of 468 for and 852 against was <br />presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by <br />Councilman Kent for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 <br />ayes, 0 nays. <br />
