5 <br />E <br />Mayor Burnett advised the Council that Reed and Stowe has requested a <br />Water and Sewer Rate Study Advisory Committee be appointed composed <br />of the City Manager, City Attorney, Director of Finance, Director of <br />Utilities and one Councilman, and Mayor Burnett appointed each to the <br />Committee along with Councilman Wortham, Councilman Bone, and <br />Councilman Kent. <br />After discussion of the water and sewer rate study, a motion was made <br />by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman Kent accepting the <br />proposal of Reed & Stowe and Freese R! Nichols to conduct the water <br />and sewer rate study. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes reported that the Lakeway Baptist Church's claim <br />of sewer back up caused from a sewer main not being able to handle <br />heavy rains, as reported by the Public Works Department. Mr. Haynes <br />told the Council this happened November 15, 1987, damage was in the <br />amount of $1,551.44 for replacing tile and taking up of carpet. <br />There was also a claim March 29, 1984 in the amount of $436.05 which <br />was paid by the City of Paris. Mr. Haynes said that our insurance <br />company has denied this claim, but Rev. Joe Adams has requested this <br />be presented to the City Council for consideration. <br />After discussion was had, it was the consensus of the Council to stay <br />with the decision of our Insurance Carrier. <br />City Attorney Haynes reported a claim made by Deanna Hodges in the <br />amount of $205.99 plus a plumbing bill for damage cause from grease <br />in the main sewer line. This claim was also denied by our Insurance <br />Carrier on November 25, 1987. <br />After discussion, it was the consensus of the Council to up hold the <br />decision of our Insurance Carrier. <br />W. E. Anderson gave a report on the 1987 tax collection compared to <br />the previous year's collection. Mr. Anderson also reported on the <br />_Hotel Motel Occupancy Tax collection. <br />ity Attorney Haynes asked the Council to authorize him to waive our <br />sight that the bid at the court house steps has to equal the tax owed <br />on property being sold. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman Bone <br />granting City Attorney Haynes the above requested authority. The <br />motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the Council would go into executive <br />session, and declared the regular session closed and the executive <br />session open. <br />Legal matter were discussed with the City Attorney. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the executive session closed, and the regular <br />session open. <br />
