into 88 units housing for the low to moderate income citizens. Mr. <br />Hackler told the Council the construction would cost approximately <br />three million dollars for the renovation, and they would be investing <br />their money, not public money for the renovation of the hotel. <br />Federal assistance would be used to help provide subsidies to the <br />tenants for their rent. This would be subject to the Paris Housing <br />Authority being granted 88 units of subsidies under the Department of <br />Housing & Urban Development Moderate Rehab. Housing Program, and in <br />turn these would be assigned to the Diversified Housing Services Inc. <br />Mr. Hackler stated they believed the Gibraltar Hotel will make an <br />excellent development that is in a good location for the elderly <br />being near the library, park and shopping area. <br />After a considerable amount of discussion, a motion was made by <br />Councilman Wortham to give the Diversified Housing Services Inc. the <br />Council's approval of their project. A motion was made by Councilman Kent, seconded by <br />Councilman Fendley for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried <br />6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett advised that the next item on the agenda was adoption <br />of a Standard Swimming Pool Code, that this item had been previously <br />tabled, and would have to be brought from the table. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bone to bring this item from the <br />table for action. The motion was seconded by Councilman Clifford and <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Councilman Bone made a statement that he has studied the Standard <br />Swimming Pool Code and said it would be unenforceable. <br />Councilman Clifford made a motion to turn down the adoption of the <br />Swimming Pool Code at this time. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Wortham and carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
