B. A. Huddleston, Director of Public Works, appeared before the <br />Council stating that he feels either excavator that was bid would do <br />an excellent job, or would do the job we intent to do, but a decision <br />had to be made, that the bids were within $8.00 of each other, so he <br />chose the low bid of Darr Equipment Company. Mr. Huddleston also <br />stated that the specification were written around the type of <br />equipment that was needed which Roy Luttrell of Public Works, helped <br />to establish. <br />Craig Stout, 241 N. W. Lott Street, Longview, Texas, representing <br />Conley - Lott - Nichols Machinery Company, appeared before the <br />Council presenting a competitive comparison of the Liebherr A902 <br />Speeder to the Caterpiller Excavator showing that the Liebherr has <br />specification advantage over the Caterpillar. <br />Harold Jacobs, 410 Delano Street, Longview, Texas, representing Darr <br />Equipment Company, appeared before the Council discussing the swing <br />great on his excavator. Mr. Jacobs told the Council that it-is not <br />outside,and it is enclosed. Mr. Jacobs also told the Council his <br />machine meets or exceeds the specifications, plus the next 24 months <br />after Conley - Lott - Nichols warranty runs out, they have an <br />additional power train warranty that could save the City money, and <br />feels they could serve the City of Paris better than any Company in <br />East Texas. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Bone to accept the <br />bid of Conley - Lott - Nichols Machinery Company's bid in the amount <br />of $1,988.00 per month for sixty consecutive months. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Clifford, and carried 5 ayes 1 nay, Mayor <br />Burnett voting no. <br />Mayor Burnett called for the tabulations of bids for One Air Type <br />Street Sweeper, and the following bids were presented: <br />Industrial Disposal Supply Co. <br />Time Payment - Sixty Consecutive Monthly Installments of $1,334.13 <br />Industrial Disposal Supply Co. <br />Time Payment - Sixty Consecutive Monthly Installments of $1,342.59 <br />Saf -T -Mark Supply Co. <br />Time Payment - Sixty Consecutive Monthly Installments of $1,400.31 <br />Industrial Disposal Supply Co. <br />Time Payment - Sixty Consecutive Monthly Installment of $1,413.25 <br />Martin Equipment Company <br />Time Payment - Sixty Consecutive Monthly Installments of $1,607.05 <br />Dallas Brush Mfg. Company <br />Time Payment - Sixty Consecutive Monthly Installment of $1,770.62 <br />City Manager Malone told the Council that B. A. Huddleston, Director <br />of Public Works, recommends the low bid of Industrial Disposal <br />
