6
Mayor Burnett announced the need for clarification of Council's
authorization for a sewer service feasibility study in the area of
3400 - 3600 Block of Clement Road.
City Manager Malone advised the Council that at a previous meeting
the Council had authorized a feasibility study in this area by a
Consulting Engineering Firm at an estimated cost of $1500.00 -
$2500.00, and part of the cost would be to study the possibility of a
gravity line in that area, and since we have citizens making a
request to put in a small lift station and force main that would only
serve a few customers, that there is a. wider area that could be
served if we could determine where and how much the expenditure would
be.
Director of Engineering Buss appeared before the Council stating that
this go back to the policy as to how you want the City to develop, do
you want these small lift stations all over town for the City to
maintain, or do you want to put in regional lift stations. Mr. Buss
told the Council that Government should sponsor Regional Lift
Stations and have a user connection fee, that Developers do not have
the capitol to do these type projects.
After considerable discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Hoog,
seconded by Councilman Wortham to continue with Council action to
hire a Consulting Engineering Firm to make the Feasibility Study.
The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays.
A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by Councilman Francis
to authorize advertisement of bids for two - four inch pumps for the
City Yard Lift Station.
