City Manager Malone told the Council that this Resolution was placed on the Agenda to assist those persons in the community who are currently involved in putting together parcels of land to meet the needs of the U. S. Postal Service for a new building site. The City Council, Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Development Committee have all endorsed a downtown centrally located Post,Office. City Manager Malone stated that it is our hope that four or five sites will be sukmi.tted for their consideration. William Hagood, 507 Church Street, associated with Nathan Bell Realtors, appeared before the Council stating that the Postal Service wanted 5.05 acres, and requested there be no streets through it, and there were only one or two sites that meets those requirements. Mr. Hagood told the Council with this Resolution, it would increase the probability of coming up with a site that will be attractive to the Post Office. A motion was made by Councilman Hang, seconded by Councilman Bufford for approval of the Resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Resolution No. 87 -040 authorizing and directing Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development of the City of Paris to execute on behalf of the City of Paris Amendment No. 4 to Contract No. 00023904585 between the City of Paris and the Texas Department of Community Affairs was presented. Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, appeared before the Council stating that this grant has to do with the Texas Rental '- Rehabilitation Loan Project, and that they are in the process of rehabilitating 20 - 25 rental units by making loans to the property owners for that purpose. The Amendment No. 4 has to do with extending the time for the project until October 1987 which will give more time to complete the project. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Folnar,`seeonded by Councilman Bufford for approval of the Resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
