17A- ) <br />Mayor Burnett <br />for bids for <br />Department. <br />called for consideration of and action on authorizing <br />one (1) Mini dump to be used in the Public Works <br />City Manager Malone told the Council that $2,700.00 had been budgeted <br />for the purchase of a used TP&L Utility Truck for the Public Works <br />Department, and ask B. A. Huddleston to pass out pictures of the <br />proposed change. City Manager Malone said it was the desire of City <br />Staff to purchase a Mini Dump Bed which would be installed on the <br />back of a pickup for the purpose to facilitate the cleaning of the <br />gutters, as it is now, the crews have to load and unload with shovels. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by <br />Councilman Hoog authorizing the advertisement for one Mini Dump for <br />the Public Works Department. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor. Burnett called for consideration and action authorizing project <br />to street repair and rehabilitation and establishing the project <br />method to be used. <br />City Manager Malone told the Council in order to take advantage of <br />the 1987 construction seasons which is the Spring, Summer, and early <br />Fall, and as the Council in previous sessions and workshops has <br />expressed interest in projects for the City of Paris to improve <br />streets, and with the help of B. A. Huddleston, Director of Public <br />Works, and Richard Babb, Interim City Engineer, a number of street <br />that we would like to propose to the Council for a hot mix overlay <br />project. If the Council would express confidence in Mr. Babb and Mr. <br />Huddleston, and authorize staff to do this by force account it would <br />greatly facilitate the project. <br />Mr. Richard Babb, Enterim City Engineer, presented maps to the <br />Council showing the areas for the overlay. Mx. Babb estimated the <br />cost for this project would be $207,00.00 and recommended approval of <br />the project. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by Councilman Bufford <br />to proceed by Force Account with the Street Overlay Project. The <br />motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett took this time to commend B. A. Huddleston for the <br />excellent job he has done since he assumed the position of Public <br />Works Director. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the next item on the agenda was action <br />on authorizing West Center Street Water Main Replacement Project and <br />28th Street N. W. from Graham to Campbell Water Main Replacement <br />Project and establishing the project method to be used. <br />City Manager Malone told the Council that 34 major breaks have <br />occurred in the past five years on the West Center Street water main, <br />and there are industries in the area and when these breaks occur, <br />they are without water. City Manager Malone stated that we.do want <br />to promote industrial development and to serve our custamers that we <br />have, and this is a decision that we are proposing on a maintenance <br />basis. that an 18 inch line is called for in the Master Plan. City <br />Manager Malone advised the Council each time this line breaks the <br />average cost to repair is approximately $1,500.00, and it is <br />
