,: ►� 5 r3 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL June 4, 1987 The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Thursday, June 4, 1987, 5:15 P. M. Council Chambers of City Hall. Mayor Billy J. Burnett called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: Travis Wortham, Eric Clifford, Marshall H. Kent, Jr., and Bill Bone. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, appeared before the Council and presented the minutes of the Planning and Zoning Commission's meeting held on June 1, 1987, and attached hereto as part of these minutes as exhibit A. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of ABBCOS, Inc. for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. 1 (MF -1) to an Office District (0) on Lot 1 -B, City Block 109 located at 219 6th S. E. Councilman Fendley entered the Council Chambers and assumed his seat at the council table. Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear, and none appeared. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared, and the public hearing was declared closed. A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by Councilman Fendley for approval of the zoning change, and called for an Ordinance to be prepared and presented at the next regular Council meeting. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of First _ Baptist Church for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. 1 (MF -1) to a Commercial District (C) on Lots 1, 2, 3, 7, j 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and the south part of Lot 5, City Block 182 located on the north side of E. Austin Street, east of 3rd S. E. Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Dorcy Mackey, Chairman of the Property Committee for the First Baptist Church appeared before the Council and told them that the North part of the block between Kaufman and Austin East of 3rd S. W. was zoned Commercial and requested the remainder of the property be zoned Commercial. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared, and the public hearing was declared closed. A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman Wortham for approval of the zoning change, and called for an Ordinance to be prepared and presented at the next regular council meeting. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays.
