,: ►� 5 r3 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />June 4, 1987 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Thursday, <br />June 4, 1987, 5:15 P. M. Council Chambers of City Hall. Mayor Billy J. <br />Burnett called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: Travis Wortham, Eric Clifford, Marshall H. Kent, Jr., and <br />Bill Bone. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City <br />Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. <br />Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, appeared before the <br />Council and presented the minutes of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission's meeting held on June 1, 1987, and attached hereto as part <br />of these minutes as exhibit A. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of <br />ABBCOS, Inc. for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling <br />District No. 1 (MF -1) to an Office District (0) on Lot 1 -B, City Block <br />109 located at 219 6th S. E. <br />Councilman Fendley entered the Council Chambers and assumed his seat at <br />the council table. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared, and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by Councilman Fendley <br />for approval of the zoning change, and called for an Ordinance to be <br />prepared and presented at the next regular Council meeting. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of First <br />_ Baptist Church for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling <br />District No. 1 (MF -1) to a Commercial District (C) on Lots 1, 2, 3, 7, <br />j 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and the south part of Lot 5, City Block 182 <br />located on the north side of E. Austin Street, east of 3rd S. E. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Dorcy Mackey, <br />Chairman of the Property Committee for the First Baptist Church <br />appeared before the Council and told them that the North part of the <br />block between Kaufman and Austin East of 3rd S. W. was zoned Commercial <br />and requested the remainder of the property be zoned Commercial. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared, and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman <br />Wortham for approval of the zoning change, and called for an Ordinance <br />to be prepared and presented at the next regular council meeting. The <br />motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
