MINUTES OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
MAY 7, 1984
f
The Planning and Zoning Commission met in regular session, Monday, May 7,
1984 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas with the
following members present:
1. Dwight Woolston
Also present were Tom Pine, City Engineer and Joe McCollum, Director of
Community Development.
Chairman Swaim called the meeting to order and the Minutes of April 2, 1984
were approved as presented.
Chairman Swaim declared the public hearing open on the petition of Gary Pirtle
for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 3 (SF -3) to a
Light Industrial District (LI) on Lot 7, City Block 235 -A located on the east
side of 19th N.W., 312 feet north of W. Henderson Street.
Mr. Pirtle was present and stated he wanted to relocate his business at this
location. He said he operates City Electric Motor Service, a motor repair and
rewinding service. He pointed out the existing LI zoning on the west side of
19th N.W. and the proximity of this property to other industrial uses as
reasons for the requested change. He said he planned to construct a new
building on the lot for his business.
i+
There was no one else present to speak on the petition and Chairman Swaim
closed the public hearing.
Following discussion of existing zoning and land use in the area, Mr. Woolston
made a motion to recommend approval. Mr. McMonigle seconded the motion which
carried 6 ayes, 0 nays.
Chairman Swaim declared the public hearing open on the petition of Gary
McDowra for Site Plan approval in a Planned Development District (PD -a) on
Lot 5, City Block 102 -C located on the west side of 17th S.E. between Lamar
Avenue and Margaret Street.
Mr. McDowra submitted his site plan calling for a 2,450 sq. ft. brick building
to be used for his T.V. Sales and Repair business.
City Engineer Pine reviewed the site plan pointing out that a 61 foot wide
driveway was proposed and the maximum width allowed is 45 foot. He stated that
there was no curb and gutter on 17th S.E. and that their plan to concrete out
to the existing asphalt pavement would assure good drainage along the street.
He recommended that roof guttering be directed to 17th S.E. and that a curb
be installed along the south line of the parking area to direct drainage from
residence on the south.
t
Mk"
