l <br />Mayor Graham appointed a Committee for the purpose of selecting specific <br />surface water drainage improvements for the annual work program as <br />follows: Councilman Wilson, Chairman, Councilman Fisher, and Councilman <br />McWaters. <br />City Manager Doty presented a draft report of an Interim Audit of <br />Construction Grant C481248 -02 for the Step II Project . <br />City Attorney Haynes presented a petition to close a portion of 36th <br />N.W., south of Lot fronting on the west side of West Houston Street. <br />City Attorney Haynes advised that an Ordinance would be introduced at <br />the next meeting. <br />City Manager Doty presented a letter from Norment and Castleberry <br />concerning modifying liability insurance coverage for Cox Field. After <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by <br />Councilman McWaters to table the matter. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 <br />nays. <br />City Manager Doty advised the Council that he had been requested to <br />serve on a State of Texas Comptroller /Texas Municipal League Advisory <br />Committee on City Finance and requested the Council's concurrene. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Hoog <br />approving the appointment of the City Manager. The motion carried 6 <br />ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Fisher voting nay. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for rezoning: <br />Goldman Bruce from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Commercial <br />District on Lot 1, City Block 237; Ken Bolyard from a One Family <br />Dwelling District No. 2 to a General Retail District on Lot 2, Block A, <br />Jubilee Addition; Paris Jaycees for a change in zoning from a One <br />Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a General Retail District on Lot 1, <br />Block A, Jubilee Addition; Thomas Burton from a One Family Dwelling <br />District No. 3 to a General Retail District on Lots 7, 9, 11, 13, and <br />15, Block Q of East Park Addition. <br />Councilman Bell made a motion to remove from the table the item <br />previously tabled concerning the composition of the Fire Department, the <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Fisher and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO 84 -007 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE <br />OF ORDINANCE, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING ARTICLE I, CHAPTER <br />12 SECTION 12 -1 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE <br />POSITION OF FIRE MARSHAL - ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF; REPEALING ALL <br />ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY 9, 1984. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Ware, seconded by <br />Councilman Fisher for adoption of the Ordinance.
