l Mayor Graham appointed a Committee for the purpose of selecting specific surface water drainage improvements for the annual work program as follows: Councilman Wilson, Chairman, Councilman Fisher, and Councilman McWaters. City Manager Doty presented a draft report of an Interim Audit of Construction Grant C481248 -02 for the Step II Project . City Attorney Haynes presented a petition to close a portion of 36th N.W., south of Lot fronting on the west side of West Houston Street. City Attorney Haynes advised that an Ordinance would be introduced at the next meeting. City Manager Doty presented a letter from Norment and Castleberry concerning modifying liability insurance coverage for Cox Field. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman McWaters to table the matter. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Manager Doty advised the Council that he had been requested to serve on a State of Texas Comptroller /Texas Municipal League Advisory Committee on City Finance and requested the Council's concurrene. A motion was made by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Hoog approving the appointment of the City Manager. The motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Fisher voting nay. City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for rezoning: Goldman Bruce from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Commercial District on Lot 1, City Block 237; Ken Bolyard from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a General Retail District on Lot 2, Block A, Jubilee Addition; Paris Jaycees for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a General Retail District on Lot 1, Block A, Jubilee Addition; Thomas Burton from a One Family Dwelling District No. 3 to a General Retail District on Lots 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15, Block Q of East Park Addition. Councilman Bell made a motion to remove from the table the item previously tabled concerning the composition of the Fire Department, the motion was seconded by Councilman Fisher and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. ORDINANCE NO 84 -007 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCE, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING ARTICLE I, CHAPTER 12 SECTION 12 -1 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE POSITION OF FIRE MARSHAL - ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY 9, 1984. was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Ware, seconded by Councilman Fisher for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
