MINUTES AGENDA f TEM TRAFFIC COMMISSION ___ TUESDAY,APRIL 3,1984 --' ��-�� r 5:15 O'CLOCK P.M. -COUNCIL.ROOM - CITY HALL PARIS,TEXAS The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday,April 3,1984, with the following members present: 1. Lynn Hitt 4. Paul Wood 2. Charles Thompson 5. Frank Sherman 3. Billy Joe Burnett The City Staff was represented by Asst. Police Chief James Barnett and Main Street Program Director Sue Smith. Frank Sherman called the meeting to order at 5 :20 P.M. and presided until.a Co- Chairman was elacted. The first item considered was the'election of a Co- chairman. Charles Thompson nominated Lynn Mitt for Co- chairman. Paul Wood seconded the motion and it passed 5 ayes to 0 nays., Co- chairman Hitt took the chair. Next a request for a Loading Zone in the 100 block of lst S.W. was considered. Sue Smith told the Commission that a traffic expert would be in Paris very shortly.as a part of the Main Street Project. She asked that this request be delayed until a study by the expert. She suggested Mr. Gray, the person asking for this Loading Zone, be allowed to block a parking space as needed until further notice. Billy Joe Burnett made-a motion to table the request with the suggestions of Sue Smith included. Frank Sherman seconded the motion and it carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. / request to reduce the 45 M.P.H. Speed Zone from 6th S.E., East, to /New Jefferson Road on Old Jefferson Road was considered. Billy Trenado of 940 Old Jefferson Road, phone 785 -5242, appeared to speak in favor of reducing the speed limit in this area to 30 M.P.H. Mr. Trenado presented a petition signed by every resident in the affected area requesting the 30 M.P.H.Speed Limit. (Attached) Billy Joe Burnett wade a th"e it in this area to 30 M.P.H. and to erect M.P.H. Speed Limit signs. Paul Wood seconded the motion and it carried 5 ayes to 0 nays.
