MINUTES AGENDA f TEM <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION ___ <br />TUESDAY,APRIL 3,1984 --' ���-�� r <br />5:15 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />-COUNCIL.ROOM - CITY HALL <br />PARIS,TEXAS <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday,April 3,1984, <br />with the following members present: <br />1. Lynn Hitt 4. Paul Wood <br />2. Charles Thompson 5. Frank Sherman <br />3. Billy Joe Burnett <br />The City Staff was represented by Asst. Police Chief James Barnett and <br />Main Street Program Director Sue Smith. <br />Frank Sherman called the meeting to order at 5 :20 P.M. and presided <br />until.a Co- Chairman was elacted. <br />The first item considered was the'election of a Co- chairman. <br />Charles Thompson nominated Lynn Mitt for Co- chairman. Paul Wood <br />seconded the motion and it passed 5 ayes to 0 nays., <br />Co- chairman Hitt took the chair. <br />Next a request for a Loading Zone in the 100 block of lst S.W. was <br />considered. <br />Sue Smith told the Commission that a traffic expert would be in Paris <br />very shortly.as a part of the Main Street Project. She asked that this <br />request be delayed until a study by the expert. She suggested Mr. Gray, <br />the person asking for this Loading Zone, be allowed to block a parking <br />space as needed until further notice. <br />Billy Joe Burnett made-a motion to table the request with the suggestions <br />of Sue Smith included. Frank Sherman seconded the motion and it carried <br />5 ayes to 0 nays. <br />/ request to reduce the 45 M.P.H. Speed Zone from 6th S.E., East, to <br />/New Jefferson Road on Old Jefferson Road was considered. <br />Billy Trenado of 940 Old Jefferson Road, phone 785 -5242, appeared to <br />speak in favor of reducing the speed limit in this area to 30 M.P.H. <br />Mr. Trenado presented a petition signed by every resident in the <br />affected area requesting the 30 M.P.H.Speed Limit. (Attached) <br />Billy Joe Burnett wade a th"e it in this area <br />to 30 M.P.H. and to erect M.P.H. Speed Limit signs. Paul Wood <br />seconded the motion and it carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. <br />
