At the request of the <br />Council, the Mayor delayed any action until after the executive session <br />in the meeting. <br />Mayor Graham declared the public hearing open on the request of the <br />Texas Power & Light Company's rate increase. Mr. Travis King, Regional <br />Manager, Texas Power & Light Company, appeared before the Council in <br />behalf of the request. No one appeared against the proposed rate <br />increase and the public hearing was declared closed. <br />City Attorney Haynes reviewed the Council on the compromise reached <br />by theTexas Municipal League and Texas Power and Light Company on a <br />$72,000,000.00 increase and advised that the Public Utility Commission <br />would have to approve the settlement. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested authorization of the Council to receive <br />proposals for the audit of the 1981 -82 fiscal year. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Francis authorizing <br />the request. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Graham requested the Council to consider the final Annexation <br />Ordinance annexing and zoning a tract of land on the South side of <br />Highway 82 West adjacent to the City limits. <br />4 ORDINANCE NO. 2630 <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN <br />TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 8.99 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, WHICH IS LESS <br />THAN TEN PER CENT (10 %) OF THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS <br />PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND <br />ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AND PROVIDING ZONING FOR SAID TERRITORY. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded <br />by Councilman McGee for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Graham asked the Council's consideration of annexation of a <br />tract of land on the East side of Highway 271 North belonging to <br />Abbott Furniture and property belonging to Estell Council. The <br />City Manager stated that the item had been placed on the agenda as <br />authorized at a previous Council meeting. After dsicussion, a motion <br />was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Williams to <br />commence annexation proceeding on the tract of land in question. <br />The motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. <br />City Engineer Rick Conner appeared before the Council and gave a <br />report on the Water Plant. <br />Mayor Graham announced that the Council would go into executive session <br />to discuss legal matters with the City Attorney, and the regular session <br />was declared closed, and the executive session open. <br />
