At the request of the Council, the Mayor delayed any action until after the executive session in the meeting. Mayor Graham declared the public hearing open on the request of the Texas Power & Light Company's rate increase. Mr. Travis King, Regional Manager, Texas Power & Light Company, appeared before the Council in behalf of the request. No one appeared against the proposed rate increase and the public hearing was declared closed. City Attorney Haynes reviewed the Council on the compromise reached by theTexas Municipal League and Texas Power and Light Company on a $72,000,000.00 increase and advised that the Public Utility Commission would have to approve the settlement. City Manager Sokoll requested authorization of the Council to receive proposals for the audit of the 1981 -82 fiscal year. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Francis authorizing the request. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Graham requested the Council to consider the final Annexation Ordinance annexing and zoning a tract of land on the South side of Highway 82 West adjacent to the City limits. 4 ORDINANCE NO. 2630 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 8.99 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (10 %) OF THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING ZONING FOR SAID TERRITORY. was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman McGee for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Graham asked the Council's consideration of annexation of a tract of land on the East side of Highway 271 North belonging to Abbott Furniture and property belonging to Estell Council. The City Manager stated that the item had been placed on the agenda as authorized at a previous Council meeting. After dsicussion, a motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Williams to commence annexation proceeding on the tract of land in question. The motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. City Engineer Rick Conner appeared before the Council and gave a report on the Water Plant. Mayor Graham announced that the Council would go into executive session to discuss legal matters with the City Attorney, and the regular session was declared closed, and the executive session open.
