T <br />A i <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF PARIS <br />March 8, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monday, <br />March 8, 1982, 7:00 P. M. Mayor Burnett called the meeting to order with <br />the following Councilmen present: W. C. Francis, Walter F. Williams, Travis <br />Wortham, Larry McGee, Ken Kohls, and Joe Graham. Also present were City Manager, <br />R. W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Councilman Walter F. Williams. <br />Mayor Burnett asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous <br />meetings, furnished to the Council members. There being no corrections, the <br />minutes were approved. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the first order of business would be consideration <br />of recommendations made by The Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of Gene Roden's <br />Sons, Inc. for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. 1 <br />to a Multi - Family Dwelling District No. 1 and Specific Use Permit - Civic <br />Organization (17) on the west 119 feet of Lot 2, City Block 181, located at <br />345 South Church Street. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Mr. Paul Gene Roden appeared <br />in behalf of the petition stating that the residence would be used as a office <br />for. the Girl Scouts of America. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and Mr. Douglas Wehrman appeared in <br />opposition stating that his opposition was based on spot zoning and that he wished <br />to preserve the historical value of the neighborhood. Mrs. Elizabeth Lightfoot <br />appeared before the Council in opposition to the petition stating that her opposi- <br />tion was base on an attempt to preserve and maintain the historical value of the <br />community, and not being opposed to the Girl Scouts of America. Mrs. Lightfoot <br />recognized several residents in the audience who was opposed to the change. Mrs. <br />Douglas Wehrman appeared before the Council also in opposition to the petition. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing closed and <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2612 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS <br />AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISH- <br />ING A MULTIPLE- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 (FM -1) AND A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT, <br />CIVIC ORGANIZATION (17) ON THE WEST 119 FEET OF LOT 2, CITY BLOCK 181, ON PROPERTY <br />BELONGING TO GENE RODEN'S SONS, INC., SO AS TO INCLUDE.THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY <br />DESIGNATED AS A MULTIPLE - FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO 1 (FM -1); AND DESIGNATING <br />THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MULTIPLE- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO 1 (MF -1) AND A SPECIFIC <br />USE PERMIT, CIVIC ORGANIZATION (17) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman <br />McGee for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion <br />man Williams voting nay. <br />Graham, seconded by Councilman <br />carried 6 ayes, 1 nay, Council- <br />
