Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of Glenn Watson for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Two Family Dwelling District on Lots 1 thru 16, Block 2, Highland Park Addition, located on the north side of Cleveland Street between 20th S. E. and 22nd S. E. Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Mr. Glenn Watson appeared in his behalf stating that he proposed to build duplexs on the property. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and Mr. John Waldrum appeared representing himself and stating that the property should be maintained as :angle family dwellings. Mr. Waldrum said several persons were in the audience indicating opposition to the petition and requested Mr. Waldrum recognition. A petition of fifty persons was presented to the Council indicating opposition to the petition. Mr. Robert McWhirter appeared before the Council requesting that the neighborhood remain as it was originally desiged to be. Mrs. Don Kosterman, Jr. and Dr. Leon Kelley also appeared in opposition to the re- zoning. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing closed and ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F) ON LOTS 1 THROUGH 16, BLOCK 2, HIGHLAND PARK ADDITION, UPON PROPERTY OF WHICH GLENN WATSON OWNS A CURRENT OPTION, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO 2 (SF -2); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F) SO ESTABLISHED. was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Kohls, seconded by Councilman Williams to deny the adoption of the Ordinance, and to deny the re- zoning. The motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Wortham voting nay. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of John L. Hutchings for a change in zoning from a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. 1 to an Office District on Lot 15, City Block 296, located at 3315 Lamar Ave. Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Mr. John L. Hutchings appeared in his behalf stating that the property had been sold to a local Real Estate Broker for an office if zoning is approved. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and none appeared and the public hearing was declared closed. ORDINANCE NO. 2613 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING AN OFFICE DISTRICT (0) ON LOT 15, CITY BLOCK 296, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO JOHN L. HUTCHINGS, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A MULTIPLE - FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 (MF -1); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE OFFICE DISTRICT (0) SO ESTABLISHED. was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams seconded by Councilman McGee for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
