Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open to consider the matter of changing the zoning from a Commercial District to a Two Family Dwelling District on part of Lots 23 and 24, Block 2, Martin Block Addition located on the northwest corner of 7th N. W. and W. Cherry Street. Mayor Burnett advised the Council that the Planning and Zoning Commission had referred back to the Council the matter with the January 4th recommendation, that being to deny*the re- zoning to a Commercial District. - Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and a Mrs. Sumner appeared in be- half of Mrs. Alvin. Grooms to support the changing from Commercial to a Two Family Dwelling District. Mrs. Onita Lawson appeared before the Council supporting the change and complaining about fumes from the body shop. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and Mr. Allen Price appeared in opposition to the zoning change. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing closed. ORDINANCE NO. 2621 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F) ON PART OF LOTS 23, AND 24, BLOCK 2 OF THE MARTIN - BLOCK ADDITION, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO ALLEN PRICE, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRI'T'ORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F), SO ESTABLISHED. was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Kohls, seconded by Councilman Graham for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Manager Sokoll presented a replat of Lots 1, City Block 53. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Wortham approving the replat. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for re- zoning: Doris Carroll Lot 4, City Block 188 -D from Single Dwelling District to Two- Family Dwelling District: Elmerence Taylor, Lot 1, and 1A, Block 237, from SF -3 District to General Retail District; Bill Flanary, All lots, Block 12, from SF -2 to SF -3 District; Mrs. J. C. Head, Lot 1 -A, Block 1, West Side Addition from SF -2 District to SF -3; Marvin D. & Glendal Mitchell, Lot 18, City Block 296, from SF -2 District to Office District. Mayor Burnett referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning Commission for their study and recommendation, and called for a public hearing at the next regular Council meeting. Mayor Burnett called for the tabulation of bids for an Ice Maker for the Street Department. City Manager Sokoll advised the Council that only one bid had been received, that from the Good Leasing and Sales Company in the amount of $1,864.43. A motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman Wortham approving the bid of the Good Company. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
