Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open to consider the matter of changing <br />the zoning from a Commercial District to a Two Family Dwelling District on part <br />of Lots 23 and 24, Block 2, Martin Block Addition located on the northwest corner <br />of 7th N. W. and W. Cherry Street. <br />Mayor Burnett advised the Council that the Planning and Zoning Commission had <br />referred back to the Council the matter with the January 4th recommendation, <br />that being to deny*the re- zoning to a Commercial District. - <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and a Mrs. Sumner appeared in be- <br />half of Mrs. Alvin. Grooms to support the changing from Commercial to a Two Family <br />Dwelling District. Mrs. Onita Lawson appeared before the Council supporting the <br />change and complaining about fumes from the body shop. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and Mr. Allen Price appeared in <br />opposition to the zoning change. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing closed. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2621 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID <br />CITY; ESTABLISHING A TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F) ON PART OF LOTS 23, <br />AND 24, BLOCK 2 OF THE MARTIN - BLOCK ADDITION, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO ALLEN <br />PRICE, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRI'T'ORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A COMMERCIAL <br />DISTRICT (C); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT <br />(2F), SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Kohls, seconded by Councilman <br />Graham for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented a replat of Lots 1, City Block 53. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Wortham approving the replat. <br />The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for re- zoning: Doris <br />Carroll Lot 4, City Block 188 -D from Single Dwelling District to Two- Family <br />Dwelling District: Elmerence Taylor, Lot 1, and 1A, Block 237, from SF -3 <br />District to General Retail District; Bill Flanary, All lots, Block 12, from <br />SF -2 to SF -3 District; Mrs. J. C. Head, Lot 1 -A, Block 1, West Side Addition <br />from SF -2 District to SF -3; Marvin D. & Glendal Mitchell, Lot 18, City Block <br />296, from SF -2 District to Office District. <br />Mayor Burnett referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning Commission for <br />their study and recommendation, and called for a public hearing at the next <br />regular Council meeting. <br />Mayor Burnett called for the tabulation of bids for an Ice Maker for the Street <br />Department. <br />City Manager Sokoll advised the Council that only one bid had been received, <br />that from the Good Leasing and Sales Company in the amount of $1,864.43. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman Wortham approving <br />the bid of the Good Company. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
