t <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 18, 1979 <br />A special meeting of the City Council was held June 18, 1979 at 7:00 P. M. <br />City Hall. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order with the following <br />Councilmen present: Billy Joe Burnett, Walter F. Williams, George Fisher, <br />Jr., W. C. Francis, Ron Kyle, and Jim Farris. Also present were City Manager, <br />Robert W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the purpose of the special meeting was to -onduct <br />a public hearing on the Proposed Budget for the 1979 -80 fiscal year. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on the Proposed Budget. Mr. <br />Jessee Hail appeared before the Council requesting Street repairs and <br />improvements to three and four hundred block of Provide Street and Proving <br />Alley, and on.4th Street N. W. from Provide Ailey to Grove Street. fir. Hall <br />stated that water pressure was also low in the area. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Burnett to <br />continue the public hearing. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone requested the Council's consideration of a previously authorized <br />Ordinance removing the $1.00 sanitation charge from utilities bills. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2450 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXP.3, PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL <br />OF ARTICLE IV, CHAPTER 14; WHICH PROVIDED FOR THE SOLID WASTE SERVICE <br />CHARGE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND 'DECLARED THE SAME TO BE <br />NULL AND VOID AND OF NO EFFECT. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Council - <br />man Fisher for approval of.the Ordinance. Motion carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. <br />Councilman Farris, Councilman Kyle voting nay. <br />Mayor Malone invited the Council's attention to a previously authorized <br />Ordinance re- imposing 1% Sales Tax on residential gas and electricity. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2451 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, REIMPOSING THE TAX IMPOSED BY <br />THE LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX ACT (ARTICLE 1066c VERNON'S CIVIL STATUTES) ON THE <br />SALE AND DISTRIBUTING OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY FOR RESIDENTIAL USE IN SAID CITY; <br />REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 2406 OF THE CITY OF PARIS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES <br />OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for approval of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone invited the Council's consideration of a previously authorized <br />Ordinance allowing organizational changes in the Fire Department. <br />
