1 <br />City Manager Sokoll• advised the Council of a request from the City of Reno <br />for the purchase od treated water from the City of Paris.. He advised also - <br />that in a meeting with the Lamar County Water Supply Board that the Board <br />had indicated a willingness to amend a contract with the City of Paris which <br />restricted the City of Paris to serving water only within the city limits. <br />Hayar Malone called for discussion on residential garbage collection and on <br />residential trash collection as now provided by the City of Paris. Mayor <br />Malone advised the Council as chairman of the committee appointed to study <br />the situation that the committee had met several times and had difficulty in <br />arriving at a unanimous recommendation, therefore, the reason for presentation. <br />to the Council at this time. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented cost estimates for twice a month trash pick up <br />and landfill operation by the City and as well as a cost estimate for contract_. <br />ing the landfill at twice a month pick up. Other cost estimates of.various <br />options for the service were provided the-council. _ <br />Mr. Ken Kohls appeared before the .Council stating that residences needed twice <br />a week pick up, and recommended that the City Council set a date.for final <br />decision on the question. <br />After considerable discussion, Councilman Williams made a move to table the <br />subject, the motion died for lack of a second. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Burnett. to table the subject and call for two ` <br />public hearings for discussion of the garbage collection and trash pick up <br />within the City, such dates for the public hearing to be at the regular Council <br />meeting February 12, 1979, and a special called meeting for February 15, 1979. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Williams, and carried 4 ayes, 3 nays. <br />Councilman Philley, Councilman Farris, and Councilman Wunsch voting nay. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MICHAEL E.
