Mr. Felix Gibson appeared before the Council stating that a recent visit to the <br />City of Sulphur Springs revealed a $3.25 charge to the citizens with bags <br />furnished at eight cents each for twice a week pick up, and stated that it was <br />his opinion that trash should be picked up on a regular and orderly basis in <br />Paris. Texas. <br />Mrs. Joe Rushing 535 12th S. E. appeared before the Council recommending the <br />recommendations of the Mayor. Mr. Nathan Bell, 624 Church St. appeared before <br />the Council stating that he would like to see the private enterprise operation <br />continued and would like to see the City trash and private enterprise operation <br />remain as is. <br />City Manager Sokoll advised the Council and the audience that during his tenure <br />of service with the City that he had recognized the trash and garbage area as <br />one in which service. could be improved, and therefore, the reason for'the study <br />and recommendations by the City Staff. <br />Mr. Foster Stone appeared before the Council endorcing the Mayor's recommend- <br />ations. Mr. Robert Burns, 118 W. Kaufman Street stating that it was his <br />opinion that City and County trash on roads and ditches would be increased <br />should service charges be installed.' <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing closed. <br />Mayor Malone requested that the City Finance Officer present a detailed summary <br />and an itemized breakdown of cost of the present system, and cost of other <br />proposals made by the City Manager and Staff. <br />Mayor Malone invited the City's consideration of an Ordinance changing the <br />number of personnel in the Fire Department. <br />ORDINANCE N0. 2435 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISION SECTION 12 -1 <br />OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE COMPOSITION OF THE PARIS FIRE DEPARTMENT; <br />REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH ;. AND <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF FEBRUARY 16, 1979. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett,. seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the ordinance.
