88; <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF'THE'OITY COUNCIL <br />January 10, 1977 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council was held on January 10, 1977 at 7:n0 P. M. <br />Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: George Fisher, Jr., David Philley, Freddie Swaim, Jimmy Don Stone, and - —" <br />Halter F. Williams. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney <br />T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Councilman Walter Williams. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of <br />the previous meetings'as furnished the members of the Council, and City Clerk Greene <br />advised that a typographical error occurred in the bids submitted for the Sanitary <br />Landfill work, that being the David Buster Construction Company listed as $61,858.60 <br />should be $61,658:60: The minutes were then approved.._ <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the -first order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on -the -petition of -Glenn Smallwood <br />for a change in zoning from a One -Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a General Retail <br />District on Lots 2 and 3, City Block 249. <br />Mayor Brunette -called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Glenn Smallwood appeared in <br />his own behalf. <br />Mayor Brunette called for -opponents to,appear, and -none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and Ordinance No. 2309: <br />"AN ORDINANCE*AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE'BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING.MAP <br />OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING V GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) ON LOTS 2 AND <br />3, CITY BLOCK 249,'ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO GLENN SMALLWOOD, SO AS TO <br />INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY'FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE -FAMILY D11!ELLING <br />DISTRICT NO. 2.(SF-2); AND DESIGNATING--THE-BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERAL <br />RETAIL DISTRICT -(GR) -SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and-seconded'by Council- <br />man Fisher for the adoption of -the -ordinance. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the -annexation of tracts on <br />U. S. Highway 82, west of the Central Freight Lines property owned by John Webster <br />and Lisle Mullins., City Manager Sweatt advised that after public hearing was <br />called on this matter, an additional tract -of land owned by Mr. Brockway was re- <br />quested for annexation also, and as this tract is contingious to the Webster and <br />Mullins tracts, those owners had -indicated they would like for all of the area to <br />be considered together. Mayor Brunette -declared the public hearing closed. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Fisher to defer <br />action on the Webster and Mullins tract. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
