C,�,_' <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Wayne Brown was present and <br />stated that the requested retail zoning was for the purpose of developing a motel <br />and other business uses on the property. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette then declared the public hearing closed and called for the reading of <br />the ordinance. <br />Ordinance No. 2331: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT <br />(GR) ON LOT 1, CITY BLOCK 315, UPON PROPERTY OF WHICH WAYNE BROWN <br />AND GENE BROWN OWN A CURRENT OPTION, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS AN AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT (A); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) <br />SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A motion.was made by Councilman Wunsch and seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next item to consider was zoning classification <br />for an unlisted land use. <br />A request had been filed through the Department of Community Development by the <br />Girls Softball of Paris, Inc., asking that a determination be made as to the pro- <br />per zoning classification for a concession building they proposed to be located on <br />the premises owned by the Oak Park Methodist Church. In cooperation with the church, <br />two girls softball fields had been developed on the west side of the church's pro- <br />perty at 27th S. W. and Austin Streets. -- <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission had considered the matter at its last meeting and <br />had recommended to the City Council that concession buildings and restrooms be con= <br />sidered as an accessory use facility with parks and playgrounds and should be allowed <br />in those districts in which parks and playgrounds were permitted by the zoning ordi- <br />nance. <br />Rita Dozier and Donnie Erwing, associated with the Girls Softball of Paris, Inc. were <br />present and emphasized the need for these facilities in connection with the soft- <br />ball program for the young women of the community. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a recommendation and a reading of a resolution by the <br />city attorney. <br />Resolution No. 1807, declaring that a concession activity, open only for scheduled <br />public activities , is a permitted use where parks are permitted, was presented. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Wunsch for the adop- <br />tion of the resolution. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
